The Drill Assistant's main function is to support our geotechnical drilling operations. The ideal candidate will work alongside drillers or lead drillers to contribute to the success of construction and engineering projects by assisting in the collection of soil and rock samples and ensuring the proper functioning of drilling equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Work with Drillers or Lead Drillers to set up and operate drilling equipment.
- Support the execution of geotechnical investigations and soil sampling.
- Review project instructions, and ensure all materials and supplies are available for project completion.
- Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements for sealing of boreholes.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on drilling equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and report any issues promptly to Drillers or Drill Leads.
- Assist in site preparation activities, including marking drilling locations and ensuring access for drilling equipment.
- Work with Drillers or Drill Leads to review utility locate.
- Team with Drillers or Drill Leads to document test boring locations and elevations.
- Assist in the collection, labeling, and transport of soil and rock samples.
- Follow established procedures for proper storage and documentation of collected samples.
- Prepare written field logs of borings, including judging, documenting soil classifications, and apparent geologic origin.
- Maintain effective communication with the drilling team and project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve project objectives efficiently.

- Class A or B Driver's License.
Work Environment
This position also may require field work in outdoor conditions on construction sites with uneven ground and adverse weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The employee will occasionally push or pull equipment weighing up to 2 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Pay Transparency
Base compensation is expected to be in the range of $20.29-$25.38 per hour based on skill set and experience.
